Farida Allaghi – Executive Director
Farida is a native citizen of Libya. She acquired her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Sociology (Social Planning and Development) in 1981, from Colorado State University.
Since 1975, she has worked as an advisor and consultant on human development, policy formulations, strategic planning, fundraising, networking, training and capacity building issues to several United Nations agencies, international and regional foundations and Arab non-governmental organizations.
Starting in the early 1980’s she has been actively involved in establishing countless national, regional and international foundations and non-governmental organizations. She has been focusing primarily on promoting the status of women, children and youth, minorities and the poor, and defending the human rights of these groups within the context of sustainable human development.
Farida serves as a member of several international and regional boards, and is currently a trustee and member of the executive committee of Mentor International. Furthermore, she was an active member in the establishment of Mentor Arabia in 2004, and served as a senior advisor to the foundation from 2004 to November 2009, when she was appointed as the Executive Director of the foundation.
